She is writing her thesis on Plato’s Symposium, focusing on the role of eros in knowledge acquisition. In the summer of 2025, she interned with Connect: North Korea in the United Kingdom, where she supported North Korean defectors in their resettlement. During her junior year, Lauren studied abroad at St. Peter’s College, Oxford, and volunteered as a teaching assistant at the New Malden Korean School, where she taught Korean to second- and third-generation British Koreans, both North and South. On campus, she worked as a research assistant on American politics with Professor Chudy and on ancient Greek philosophy with Professor Gartner. This semester, she is conducting independent research on North Korean defectors in the U.S. with Professor Lee. Lauren’s long-term goal is to pursue a career in refugee advocacy.
