Catherine Zhao ’27
She is deeply interested in healthcare, with particular passions for public health, rural medicine, and improving care accessibility. During the summer of 2025, Catherine participated in the Wellesley College Science Center Summer Research Program and conducted research on organic anticancer agents for pancreatic and ovarian cancer under the guidance of Professor Dora Carrico-Moniz. She is excited to continue this research during the academic year. The previous summer, she gained clinical experience by working as a medical scribe in an internal medicine clinic as well as a hematology and oncology clinic. On campus, she volunteers with the Alzheimer's Buddies, organizes events for the Chemistry Society, and performs with the Wellesley College Dancers. After graduation, Catherine hopes to pursue medical school while continuing her involvement in research to advance equitable cancer care and public health initiatives in disadvantaged communities both locally and globally.
