Kristal Maimo
Kristal is a senior double-majoring in Africana Studies and Economics.

She is a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Research Fellow whose research concentrates on racial disparities within obstetric violence and false rhetoric regarding black anatomy within the medical field. This past summer, Kristal worked as a program evaluation intern at Yale’s Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Preservation under the International Programs team in which she helped survey the efficacy of Yale Directors forum, which is a program dedicated to supporting the work of cultural heritage leaders and practitioners based on the continent of Africa. The work she has done throughout her college career has unsighted her for social justice within the medical field as well as cultural heritage preservation. On campus, Kristal has been President of Tau Zeta Epsilon Arts and Music Society and works as a Belonging and Equity Liaison and Student Ambassador at Wellesley’s Admissions office. She has studied abroad over a summer in Bordeaux, France, as well as a semester in Aix-en-Provence where she solidified her bilingual proficiency in French. Post graduation, Kristal aims to attend graduate school to study History of Science or Black Studies.
