In the summer of 2025, she worked as a Case Fellow in Wellesley’s Economics Department, supporting Professor Ama Baafra Abeberese’s project examining the waste trade’s impact on children’s health in India, and assisting Professor Joe Joyce in preparing his Economics of Globalization lectures for publication. During her sophomore year, Riya served as a Student Researcher in The Albright Institute, contributing to Professor Priscilla Torres’ project on the effectiveness of peacebuilding methods. Riya is an active community member, working as a Residential Assistant, and serving on the executive boards for the Wellesley College Democrats and Asian Student Union. She is fluent in Hindi. Next summer, Riya hopes to continue exploring global development through an internship at an international organization.
